Abstract: On Oct 6th, 2010, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced that the Nobel Prize in chemistry for 2010 was awarded jointly to an American scientist Richard F. Heck and two Japanese scientists Eiichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki for their great contributions to palladiumcatalyzed crosscoupling. It provides one of the most sophisticated tools available to chemists to create complicated organic molecules. This tool has been widely used in pharmaceuticals, electronics industry, and advanced materials. A brief introduction for palladiumcatalyzed crosscoupling was presented in this paper.
Key words: palladiumcatalyzed, crosscoupling reaction, Nobel Prize in Chemistry, fine particulate matter pollution, hygroscopicity, visibility deterioration
