The development of evolutionary theory, from the original Darwinism through Neo-Lamarckism, Mendelism, Neo-Darwinism to the modern synthetic theory, is herein reviewed. The synthetic theory is again challenged by the new information from molecular investigations and new significant fossil discoveries. As a result, the neutral mutation-random hypothesis and the Threeepisode Cambrian Explosion hypothesis have been proposed.

Lobopodians is a very special group of Cambrian sea. They got their name lobopodians because they bear very soft, lobe-like limbs. Even though this kind of lobe-like limbs is simple, they are “the first pair of limbs” of Earth. The occurrence of the limbs not only brings the animals into “walking age”, but also opens an evolutionary door for arthropod, which is the most dominant and successful phylum on Earth. Thus, the significance of lobopodians is self-evident. In this article, we summarized the origin of evolution of Cambrian lobopodians according to the research of lobopodians from Chengjiang Fauna, China.

Pharyngeal gill slits are a key synapomorphy for defining the Deuterostomia. The Cambrian vetulicolians have been demonstrated to be the most ideal stem-group deuterostomes, based on their possession of a series of gill slits combined with primitive characters. The vetulicolian gill slits are justified to be homologous to pharyngeal gill slits of deuterostomes, with their primitive function as ventilation openings to expel seawater from the pharyngeal cavity. The emergence of the phylum Vetulicolia during the Cambrian explosion of life signals the birth of the pharyngeal gill slits in deuterostomes, which triggered a revolution in efficiency of basal metabolism (not least feeding and respiration) in the kingdom Animalia and paved the way for the subsequent rise
    of the Deuterostomia.

We introduced the fossil records of medusa in brief and discussed the radial symmetry, body plan, life history, and exoskeleton of ancestral medusae. It is hypothesized that major clades of superclass medusa should have derived prior to that of ballerinas at the dawn of Cambrian explosion. The Cambrian medusae should be classified as sessile benthic and pelagic forms.

Lophotrochozoa (Spiralian), a clade of non-ecdysozoan protostomes, comprises a large number of animal phyla, recently sub-grouped as tree lineages including Trochozoa (Mollusca, Annelida, Brachiopoda, Phoronida), Polyzoa (Cycliophora, Entoprocta and Bryozoa) and many small Platyzoan phyla. Although considerable advance have recently been made in unveiling the Cambrian morphology and phylogeny of several pivotal spiralian animals, the most conspicuous phylogenetic gap in the fossil records is for Platyzoa and Polyzoa. Recently, the problematic animal Cotyledion tylodes from the Chengjiang fanua (ca. 520 Ma old) has been reinterpreted as sclerite-bearing stem group entoproct based on observations of ca. 400 specimens collected by the working group of Early Life Institute, Northwest University, Xi’an of China. The animal’s body is goblet-shaped, with an upper cup-like calyx (cavity) and lower cylindrical stalked ended by a knob-shaped holdfast providing for exoskeletal attachment. The Calyx contains a U-shaped gut with a mouth and anus surrounded by a crown of flexible, retractable tentacles. When compared to living entoproct cousins, Cotyledion is larger in size, measuring between 8 and 56 mm and with a body covered by loosely or tightly-spaced, rounded or elliptical sclerites. In addition, Cotyledion appears to be coelomate, with a coelomic extension of calyx to the centre of stalk.
It is therefore assumed that the loss of a coelom may represent an apomorphic character in living entoprocts, and their extreme body decrease and severe structural simplification of anatomy and body wall could be taken as a result of miniaturization that is a widespread phenomenon in animals, and an adaptation that may be associated with a change to colonial life in living colonial entoprocts. Thus, the description of entoprocts from the Chengjiang biota has important implications for the earliest evolution of Lophotrochozoans.

With the development of the society, the contradiction between the consumption and scarcity of energy resources became more acute, which led to the great attention to the innovation of utilization technology of traditional energy resources. Nano energy technology, a new kind of energy technology combining advanced technologies such as nano-materials and nano-micro machining, has great potential to achieve a breakthrough in the field of energy, since the tradition macro scale energy system (e.g., internal combustion engine ) is facing intrinsic technical problems including low efficiency, high pollution, large size, etc. INME (Institute of NanoMicroEnergy) in Shanghai University, taking the advantage of being a interdisciplinary plateform, proposes to integrate the
traditional micro-thermoelectric devices fabricated by MEMS techology along with catalysis combustion that converting chemical energy to electric energy. Thus a nano-salce heat engine is obtained. The expected benefits include improving both the catalytic activity and stability of the combustion catalyst and converting the heat from catalytic reaction into electric.

After the appearance of Wenchuan M8.0 earthquake in central-northern segment of the Longmen Shan in 5th anniversary, Lushan earthquake in the southern segment of Longmen Shan appeared on April 20, 2013. Based on the basic characteristics of Lushan earthquake and the tectonic, geomorphic, water system, the distribution of the gravity anomaly characteristics of Longmen Shan Fault zone to analyze the regional geological background of Lushan earthquake and explore the relationship between the Lushan earthquake and wenchuan earthquake, we draw the following conclusions: ① the Lushan Earthquake is not the aftershocks of Wenchuan Earthquake ,they are two independent earthquake and has some relevance, the appearance of Wenchuan earthquake could promote the Lushan earthquake; ② the obduction of lower crustal flow may be the common genetic mechanism of the Lushan Earthquake and Wenchuan Earthquake, which can well explain the empty area between them; ③ there are many faults and folds in the front of the southern segment of Longmen Shan, to some extent, which can release the stress from the northwest to the southeast in this zone. Therefore, the southern segment of Longmen Shan do not have the tectonic background of the Wenchuan Earthquake.

There is a close relationship between the origin of the moon and the earth. Since 1880 the hypothesis of the moon from the earth fission was proposed, many hypotheses have been put forward. Popular one in recent 30 years is giant impact hypothesis, thought that a planetary body called Theia hit the proto-earth, the ejecta soon aggregate to form the earth’s satellite, the moon. Observation and theoretical study for the formation of planets are sure that earth experienced a giant impact during its late accretion, and the detection data of the moon provided the constraints on its origin, the development of the computer simulation method can trace quantitatively the impact process, get the possible ranges of reasonable in line with the constraints. In this paper, the latest three best simulated results are introduced, although different among them, in many key issues they made important progress, some common conclusions may be got, to solve the basic problem of the origin of the earth and the moon, and more researches are needed to solve the left and new problems.
