During the confrontation of the two sides, the technology gains breakthrough time after time. Data hiding in multimedia is a domain intercrossed between information security and signal processing. This thesis firstly reviews the development history of multimedia data hiding studies and elaborates watermarking, steganography and cipher domain data hiding respectively, according to different applications and technical indicators. It is shown that attack and defense have always been mutually promoting and restricting in the development of multimedia data hiding studies.
