Abstract: Basis on the imaging theory and characterizations of atomic force microscope (AFM), its implications with some examples in surface properties and internal structure of nuclear, protein, cell and microorganism, and its interactions between molecules or cells and its dynamic observation, single molecular manipulation, molecular recognition, and so on, are introduced in this paper. With the development of science and technology, through the improving of AFM self, we believe AFM must become one of powerful tools in life science research.
Key words: atomic force microscope, biomolecular, cells, single molecular manipulation, molecular recognition
