Abstract: With humanity coming up on 2012, should we worry about end of the world 2012 predictions? After a general introduction to Maya astronomy, Maya calendar is introduced in detail for the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012. In the author’s eyes, nothing bad will happen to the Earth in 2012 and December 21, 2012 is the end of the Maya longcount period but then another longcount period begins for the Maya calendar.
