A family of alumina (Al2O3)-forming austenitic (AFA) stainless steels is under development. These alloys offer the potential for significantly higher operating temperature and environmental durability than conventional chromia (Cr2O3)-forming stainless steels, without sacrificing other critical characteristics such as cost, creep resistance, and weldability. An overview of the alloy development approach and details of the oxidation and creep resistance properties achieved to date are presented.

The Beijing Olympic Games requires high air quality. The emissions from Beijing and its surroundings have significant impacts on Beijing air quality in summer.Ozone evolution and transportation are simulated over Beijing and its surroundings in August 2006 with the nested air quality prediction modeling system(NAQPMS)and estimates the contribution ratio from these regions to Beijing with a new tagged method of mass trajectory. The results show that the model can well represent the evolution of ozone and transportation over Beijing and the surroundings. The regional transportation of pollutants from the surroundings has significant impacts on the ozone levels in Beijing. These source regions include Tianjin city,Baoding city, and the Langfang area. The maximum contribution is Baoding city, from which the pollutants are distributed to the Beijing urban and suburban areas in proportions of 28.1% and 59.5%,respectively.Southwesterly winds are the dominant meteorological parameter for this transpo

With the modernization development of the Chinese traditional medicine prescription, it’s necessary to convert Chinese traditional medicine prescription into molecule prescription. The most difficulty of the project is the high complexity of the compositions of the Chinese traditional medicine prescription. The theory, method and path of the breakthrough on Chinese medicine prescription proposed in this paper can decline the complexity of the compositions of the Chinese traditional medicine prescription, which make the project can be achieved.

The discovery of DNA in 1953 means the life sciences’ golden time’s coming. More than 50 years later, a new nerve scientific discovery—mirror neurons are becoming the “Study Beloved”, which were considered to be equally important as DNA. Mirror neurons, a special kind of neurons, exist in primates and human beings, discharge both when individuals execute actions and when they observe others do the same actions. This article provides an overview about the discovery of mirror neurons and introduces some main research progresses.

Up to today, nanotechnology has got significant achievement and has created gigantic wealth. However, the research to the safety of itself was ignored. It is no clear whether nanotechnology will bring any pollution to ecological environment. That is a new problem and nano-detection technology is the key to give a satisfaction answer.

For coordinating earthquake relief and post-disaster construction, we are required to solve and prevent problems with macro-coordination science of the connection in all relevant disciplines from the overall situation and formulate a comprehensive cross-coordination for the general plan, seek to maximize the overall effectiveness and sustainable development. The new research tacks should be put up on the geology and other related disciplines to broaden our knowledge and thingking way, to find out all the causes and regularities of earthquake, and to serve people in geological disaster.

The celestial coordinate system is a coordinate system for mapping position in the sky which based on the rotation and revolution around the Sun of the planets. The north celestial pole of the equatorial plane is located at the north of the ecliptic plane, where the east, the south, the west and the north are arranged in sequence in clockwise direction. In this connection, the day/night cycle of the planets is the resultant of the superposition of the solar apparent diurnal and annual motions. Three common circumstances were presented in the celestial sphere: the apparent motions of stars and the Sun; the change of the day/night cycle; and the variation of the length of the day/night on planets and satellites in the Solar System, with an emphasis on the special phenomena of Uranus and the Moon.

Owing to natural factors, biological mass extinctions had appeared for five times on the Earth from the Cambrian to Tertiary, including many biotical groups. Since the Induction Revolrtion of two hundred years ago, human activities have caused serious deterioration to the environments and resulted in a sixth mass extinction. If human beings continue to deteriorate the environments, the conseguences will be unimaginable.
